prior to we kick things off I just wish to say that the material that will be talked about on this area is planned for details on instructional purposes only and must not be thought about Financial recommendations alright so in light of international women’s day I’m joined by a really special guest Julie Lee and for those that you do not understand who Julia is Julia is an ETF equities financial investment strategist at stage 3 International consultants and she has more than 20 years experience in the monetary markets and has operated in different functions including CIO for Australia equities fund and Equity strategist at Bell direct for 11 years and Julia is likewise on the board of directors for the Australian stock Brokers structure and has our masters of company in finance and Julia thanks a lot for joining me today we are delighted to have you here such a satisfaction anticipating it I am what amazing career that you have actually had over the last 20 years um it’s rather remarkable however maybe it’s best that you introduce yourself and inform us a bit about who you are and what you do and I think you can do a much better job than I can sure so um I’ve been in finance now for over twenty years

I am a bit of a nerd um I think in my earlier years I was absolutely an introvert however I would have to say of him quite an extrovert now however I’m likewise rather independent too um I am quite strong-willed that makes it a little bit challenging for hubby often however I I do love the marketplaces and I do enjoy learning too so I’m a bit of a reader I like numbers and I think I’m a little bit of a late bloomer too I believe yeah yeah and to the point that you have actually mentioned that you’re an introvert and how I think I was an introverted shy yeah naturally you’re you’re now an extrovert but how did you how did you shift in between that and you’re rather you’re put constantly out there putting yourself out there how did you transition in between that

sure I think one of the important things that individuals ask me or or get discussed quite a bit is that I seem to be a natural speaker that I’m quite good at public speaking however that absolutely was not always the case and it was a found out skill for me so whether it was the um getting over the nerves part or the part around body movement or even called The Positive walk I believe all of those were um sort of taught skills so it definitely wasn’t something that came naturally to me and I worked really hard I guess to get that ability of having the ability to speak um and I think one thing that made a very big impression on me for someone who was late Blue Moon introvert and relative really shy in my more youthful years was that everyone can speak so to be able to reveal yourself in a way that people understand I believe was quite essential to me and um I guess that’s why I operated at the school and hopefully I am better at it now than I was when I started off I would certainly say so um and how did you can you tell us a little bit about how you began in um Financing like why did you pick a profession in finance and what was the the very first point of contact in the financial world was there an adult influence or was this something that you were simply constantly thinking about I would like to state that you know I always understood what I was going to do and that was Financing but that was not the case at all I can return when I started working it wasn’t.

uncommon just to fall under your line of work for me I actually wanted to be a lawyer from the time I had to do with 7 years old but at the time that I went to UNI there were a lot of lawyers that the joblessness rate with law was so high that you had to do a double degree um so that was sort of 5 years of a double degree plus an extra year of law school and then 3 years practicing as a solicitor and I believed oh that sort of seem like an additional ten years so I really went and ended up studying company at UTS so um comparable to a Commerce degree um however throughout uni I um I operated at an Italian restaurant and then I attempted to open an Italian restaurant and to do that um I had to secure a loan with a NAB and truly I required to repay that loan when it didn’t exercise so um I I saw an ad in the paper and it stated do you want to be a stock broker and I thought oh yeah that sounds respectable yeah we’ll try we’re here we go and um you know I was lucky in that sense because I I do like the work I love being able to understand services and to operate in a market where you’re continuously having the ability to keep up to date with what’s happening worldwide what’s occurring in regards to advancements in technology or biotechnology and science I believe is an amazing thing so I like to read it and I never have a lack of stories to check out when it comes to the markets yeah excellent and between shift from oh I may wish to be a stock broker how did you become say injustices financial investment strategist how did that take place um was there.

did you work your method as much as a specific position or did you just use and after that begin with there like how did that happen sure so um I guess when it concerns the financing world you sort of start everyone starts at a base level and after that you move into the area that you have an interest in my location of interest is always markets and I took the view that um you know when I began I didn’t wish to just um just sort of I think offer something that I was at first involved in so I made a huge effort to walk the walk and talk to talk which means anything that I was speaking about I I made the effort to in fact trade myself or buy myself as well and I started in finance with the view that you know in any profession or in any profession it generally takes you about 2 or 3 years of discovering to comprehend the lessons included and what was occurring because kind of world so I I began an investment diary with the view that um you understand I wished to find out as much about investing as possible in a sort of 2 to 3 time frame so in that amount of time I sort of provided myself or I enabled myself the chance to lose cash as I believed to myself for the two to three years um that the the goal wasn’t to make as much cash as possible but the objective was to learn the ability of having the ability to earn money so that I can use it for the rest of my life so that was an excellent duration for me and I I learned a great deal of lessons I looked into fundamental analysis technical analysis understanding companies looking at market analysis I likewise looked at things like choices trading which is a lot more dangerous but that was a terrific period where I I sort of laid the foundation of going into Equity strategy which I truly do delight in and the factor I enjoy being an equity strategist is I like understanding cycles and how that influence on various businesses and the various.

organization environments too so um yeah it’s been a a long journey however one I I’ve certainly um taken pleasure in so I’ve gone from providing um things like fundamental analysis technical analysis tax effective investing choices to heading up a basic analysis unit where I got to travel a lot to the US and then I moved to Bell direct where I was Equity strategist there for 11 years and after that transferred to do my own funds management organization birming invests which I offered in June and now here I am at State Street Global equities and advisors strategists for the ETF area well amazing um during that period when you pointed out um the two to 3 years of learning how did you find that your confidence was at first versus after the three years and how did you discover um the resources to uh educate yourself like nowadays we have podcasts um I’m sure like before then we didn’t have a lot of resources available as we do now and was it through books or uni.
